Sierra Electronics installed 2 ETC CS-64 VoIP mini-SIP-Consoles at the newly remodeled Control Room at the Coso Energy Developers in Coso California so the Control room operators could access all four (4) radio channels on their Motorola Radio Base stations, without having to move across the expanded console room to reach each radio.
Coso Energy Developers in Coso CA, uses Geothermal Energy to produce clean electrical power near Death Valley on the China Lake Naval Station.
Mr. Bob Cole of Sierra Electronics of Sparks Nevada designed the system which required that the existing Motorola Radio base stations be relocated out of the Console area work space. Using ETC CG-804 Multicast Gateway, Sierra Electronics connected all four (4) Base stations to the CG-804 Gateway. The CG-804 converted the Analog I/O of the Radios to VoIP.
Sierra Electronics then created a dedicated Radio only Network to minimize territorial issues with the IT staff. Once all of the radio communication was converted to VoIP, the Console operators could then monitor and talk to all four (4) radio channels without leaving their desk positions.
This new solution not only increased worker efficiency but also cleaned up the clutter of having Radio Base Stations spread out over the console desks.
